If there is one thing that every automaker cares about, it is their brand history. Whether it be motorsport victories of yesteryear or a line of iconic models, there isn’t an automaker that doesn’t like to celebrate their own success. When the Dodge Challenger nameplate turned half a century old earlier this year, FCA rolled out the oh-so-special 50th Anniversary Edition model. Fans might not be able to order themselves one of these beautiful muscle cars for the new model year, but FCA has decided to bring a bit of that package to the 2021 Dodge Challenger: its unique Gold Rush exterior paint.

The Gold Rush exterior paint color was first exclusively on the 50th Anniversary Edition Challenger, which was a fitting touch for the automotive icon’s golden anniversary. The color was a hit with fans, bringing a serious amount of retro flair to the vintage-inspired bodywork of the current Challenger. It proved to be so popular in fact that FCA has decided to roll it out as a no-cost option for several of the high-performance 2021 Dodge Challenger models. Buyers will now have the option to spec Gold Rush exterior paint on the Challenger T/A and T/A 392 models, as well as the 700+ horsepower SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye models. It is worth noting that all SRT customers will also have to spec the $3,495 Satin Black hand-painted hood, roof and deck lid options in order to be eligible for the shiny coat.

The familiar hue joins a list of several retro-inspired options that Dodge already has in their paintshop, including: Frostbite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green and Go Mango. Buyers will be able to begin ordering their own Gold Rush Dodge Challenger this month, with ordering for the rest of the model year lineup open at this time. FCA says that deliveries for the 2021 model year Dodge Challenger are expected to take place early next year.
