Built on 25 years of success with the Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle, Chevrolet has debuted a Silverado to serve the needs of law enforcement. The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) is a crew-cab, short-bed, four-wheel-drive truck designed for high speeds and dynamic capability with added comfort and ample storage capacity.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado PPV: Details
The Silverado PPV shares many of the most desirable Tahoe PPV performance underpinnings. That includes a 355 horsepower 5.3L V8 engine, standard 10-speed automatic transmission, and six-piston Brembo brake front calipers with 16-inch rotors for increased brake durability. A standard heavy-duty engine air filter optimizes performance. In addition, the Chevrolet Silverado PPV features 20-inch black steel wheels borrowed from the Tahoe PPV and 20-inch Goodyear all-terrain speed-rated tires. The vehicle is also capable of towing 9,300 pounds to handle non-pursuit needs. Perhaps to pull a mobile station to a site, such as a music festival or a motorsports event.
When the need to take the Silverado PPV off-road arises, the truck is ready and comes standard with Z71 off-road package hardware, including Rancho shocks, locking rear differential, and skid plates. There is also an available 2-inch lift that bolsters the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado PPV’s off-road credentials, which is something we see on the Trail Boss variant.
The Silverado also offers a variety of available specialty equipment options for easy upfitting. Some of these options include auxiliary wiring circuits for easy installation of wiring to connect the truck’s horn and siren. Surveillance Mode circuit for easy lighting control installation and five upfitter switches for simple linking to the controls used most frequently. To help reduce customer costs and upfit time, the truck is equipped with standard head and taillamp flashers.
To ensure police officers can keep their assortment of devices charged, the Chevrolet Silverado PPV includes a 220-amp alternator and two 120-volt outlets. An optional upfitter switch bank is available with three 30-amp and two 20-amp circuits for emergency equipment. Configurable storage options allow customers to make the most of the 129.8 cubic feet of combined interior volume. Additionally, the truck comes standard with modern safety features to help law enforcement stay in control and avoid collisions.
