In the past, three-quarter and one ton pickup truck buyers were not given the same expansive options list as their half-ton buying peers. Today’s large truck buyers on the other hand have more features, packages, and special editions to choose from than ever before. This week, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Z71 Sport Edition and Z71 Chrome Sport Edition have been officially announced. Depending on the trim level, pricing for the package will vary.
The Z71 Sport Edition and Z71 Chrome Sport Edition packages are solely available on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD in either LT or LTZ trim. Not to be confused with the Z71 Off-Road Package, these new packages provide the heavy-duty Silverado with some added visual flair.
The Z71 Sport Edition brings some monochromatic attitude to the Silverado by way of color-matched bumpers, and a color-matched grille bar. Accents like the skid plate, Silverado badging, door handles, mirror caps and hood vent are all finished in black. Buyers will have a choice between 18-inch wheels with mud-terrain tires or 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, which are both also finished in black paint. Only three exterior paint colors are available: Red Hot, Summit White and Northsky Blue. On the LT models, the package will carry an MSRP of $3,475. The price comes down to $2,015 when starting with the LTZ model.
The Z71 Chrome Sport Edition also features a body color front bumper and grille bar, but brings a load of the shiny stuff to the Silverado HD’s exterior. GM has chromed the door handles, skid plate, grille insert, assist step and Silverado badging. The truck is only available in Summit White and Black exterior paint. Both the LT and LTZ get 20-inch aluminum wheels, though they are unique to each trim. The Z71 Chrome Sport Edition carries an MSRP of $3,390 on the LT model, while it costs only $2,740 for LTZ buyers.
Both of these new packages are currently available for ordering, and can be viewed through the Silverado 2500 HD Build and Price page. General Motors began production of the 2021 model year Silverado in September, with deliveries expected to take place throughout fall 2020.
