The Ram 1500 TRX, also known as The King of the Dinosaurs, can do a quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds which allows it to catch up to its fleeing prey, right out of the box. However, this 2021 Ram 1500 TRX owned and built out by reader Ray Valdes made this supercharged pickup truck quick enough to devour Dodge Demon muscle cars, among other things.
9-Second Ram TRX: Details
Valdes told MC&T that his Ram TRX was equipped with several modifications, which allowed him to achieve a 9.74-second quarter mile at 139 mph. Those modifications include:
- Nitrous Outlets Plate Kit (200hp Jets)
- Kong Performance Ported Factory Blower
- Kong 108 MM TB
- 2.65 GripTec Upper Pulley
- ATI 10% Lower Balancer
- IDX 1300CC Injectors
- American Racing 2″ Headers
- KFab Test Pipes
- Gear Head Intake Pipe
- DSMLights Tuning
Valdes recently took his Ram TRX to Orlando Speed World, participating in the Diablo HP Wars last Saturday, and then the Modern Street Hemi Shootout that Sunday. The first pass went great at 10.57 seconds when launching while idle without the assistance from the Nitrous. Valdes has also told us that his personal best with just the blower was 10.19 seconds at 131.50 mph.
Wanting to get a new personal best running with the Nitrous, Valdes signed up for the heavyweight class and managed to do a quarter-mile in 9.8 seconds with some tire spin during the test and tune. Unfortunately, his transmission broke during the qualifying run for the heavyweight class. But despite that, he still managed to drive all the way home after switching the tires. Over the course of the weekend, he did over 20 passes in his Ram TRX and intends to upgrade the transmission to handle more power. Additionally, Valdes is building a stroker engine for his truck, which will increase his times and ensure he’s more proficient at slaying Dodge Demons. But never mind cannibalizing Mopars, as we’d love to see how this thing would do against the 1,000 horsepower GMC Hummer EV that we recently drove.
