TWO-DOOR 2022 FORD BRONCO RAPTOR WAS NEVER IN THE PLANS

The Wheelbase Is Still Notably Shorter Than An F-150 Raptor

The first SUV to join the Raptor family has recently debuted, with the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor. With 400 horsepower on tap, the Bronco Raptor will offer class-leading V6 power courtesy of a twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost engine. You can be sure that you won’t find another production SUV with 37-inch tires for sale in America, either. However, if you’re planning on holding out for a Bronco Raptor with two doors for a shorter wheelbase, you’ll be disappointed since that was never in the plans. MC&T was told by the Ford Bronco Raptor team last week that a two-door version was never in the plans, and shouldn’t be expected in the future.

However, it’s helpful to note that even as a four-door, the Bronco Raptor still has a shorter wheelbase than an F-150 Raptor which is better than nothing. But despite the minor disappointment for some who may have been hoping to get their hands on a two-door Bronco Raptor, the vehicle still offers enough goodies that the compromise is still well worth it. For starters, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor has a minimum ground clearance of 13.1 inches, which is .2 inches taller than a Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon.

The Bronco Raptor also has a unique suspension system courtesy of a set of Fox Live Valve position-sensitive dampers measuring 3.1 inches in diameter. Front and rear control arms offer improved maximum wheel travel of 13.0 inches in the front and 14.0 inches at the rear, which drastically improves the wheel articulation compared to a base model Bronco. In addition, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor features a set of BFGoodrich 37-inch KO2 all-terrain tires that come straight from the Ford F-150 Raptor 37 package.

When it comes to the competition, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is also only offered in a four-door configuration. Sure, the Jeep has the final say when it comes to the horsepower wars as well, but the BRaptor does feature a starting price tag of $69,995. That is quite substantial; however, it is a full five grand less than a Wrangler 392, which is pretty significant when comparing all the things both vehicles have to offer.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
