Chevrolet seems to have an issue with the C8 Corvette, as its wheels keep getting into the wrong hands. Just last week, a set of carbon fiber wheels that seem to be from the upcoming Z06 popped up. Now, we have another listing on Offerup for some standard C8 Corvette stingray wheels.
The Offerup listing comes from Best Tires LLC, located in Warren, Michigan and they are for sale at $2,299. They are described as, “Open box (never used), and have the tires on. The wheels look to be in new condition, with no signs of damage. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires also appear to be in new condition. These are the tires that come with the Z51 performance package. All season Michelins are standard.
At first glance, these wheels seem like they could be off the Corvette that had its wheels stolen in Detroit. The wheel style is from the standard Corvette Stingray, so it appears the mystery is solved.
Unfortunately, two major facts make this unlikely. The Corvette that had its wheels stolen didn’t have the Z51 package, as it lacked the front splitter and rear spoiler the package adds. The wheels in the listing have the tires that come with that package, so for them to line up, the listing would need the standard all-season tires. Finally, the wheels have somehow been on sale for four months, and the Detroit ‘Vette had its wheels stolen a month ago. The timeline and tires don’t add up for these to be off that Corvette.
This only deepens the confusion over these wheels. How did someone get ahold of them way back in fall of 2019? Is there another C8 somewhere that had stolen wheels we don’t know about? Where are the wheels from the Detroit Corvette? The only things we know for sure is these wheels are for sale, and Chevy can’t be too happy about it.
