C8 CORVETTE: CARBON ROOF BOW NOW AVAILABLE

What Is A Mid-Engine Sports Car Without Loads Of Carbon Fiber?

When the configurator dropped for the 2021 C8 Corvette models back in October, several new options and accessories were announced for the car’s second sales year. Not all of these parts were added to the configurator right away however, such as a list of new carbon fiber bits. These hidden additions included options such as exterior accent packages and a visible carbon high wing setup. A carbon fiber roof bow was also added to the options list, which is now officially available for ordering from Chevrolet.

The roof bow is the bit of bodywork that sits between the C8 Corvette’s rear hatch and its removable roof panel. This piece was formerly called the halo by General Motors, but the name has changed with the C8 along with the engine’s location. When paired with Chevrolet’s visible carbon roof panel option, this new carbon roof bow makes the C8 look like its entire roof panel is made from a single batch of material. The edges have also been color-matched, should you want to keep your body-colored roof. While it is just a cosmetic change, it is one that helps make the Corvette look a bit more like its mid-engined brethren.

As of right now, the carbon fiber roof bow option is only available with three paint colors: Torch Red, Elkhart Lake Blue, and Arctic White. No word yet as to whether or not Chevrolet will expand this list to include the rest of the color palette. The bodywork carries an MSRP of $2,995 before installation, though this is a part that you can install yourself. Chevy says it only takes 14 bolts to stick this part onto your C8 Corvette, if you are brave enough to take on such a task.

The visible carbon fiber roof bow for the C8 Corvette is available for purchase through your local dealership, or directly through Chevrolet Accessories.
