Chevrolet recently teased the upcoming C8 Corvette ZR1, which is set to be unveiled this summer. Fans of the legendary Corvette who might not have known about the ZR1 project are very much aware now, which means people are paying even closer attention to the vehicles around them. As a result, some new spy photos of not just one but five Corvette ZR1 test cars have been spotted in Southern Ohio.
C8 Corvette ZR1 Prototypes Spotted: Details
The Corvette Engineering team has frequented the area with every single prototype since at least the C7 ZR1 was in development. The specific location offers some curvy Buckeye state roads, which may include Ohio’s 555, also known as the Triple Nickel. The two-lane road provides a spectacular chance for the Corvette team to take the cars, where they can also compare data from previous tests in the area.
According to Corvette Blogger, a customer of Rick Conti ran into the engineering team at their hotel and snagged some photos of the cars parked outside. We can see that the convoy comprises both Coupes and Convertibles, with some versions sporting high wings and others don’t; it’s unclear if the high wings are specific to the coupe or convertible versions. These photos also provide a much closer look at the front of the car, where we can see the air extractor in the middle of the hood. It looks like there is still a chance the Corvette ZR1 could still have a frunk despite the added feature, though it’s still unclear. Likely, it’ll be downsized from what’s offered on other versions of the C8 Corvette. Hopefully, it’s not entirely removed, as it provides significant usability for the supercar.
You can check out all 8 photos for yourselves on Rick’s Facebook page.
