When we think of muscle cars, the rumble of a boisterous V8 engine is sure to follow in your head. Ever since the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro kicked off their decades long war of attrition, the horsepower-rich eight-cylinder models have been the ones to get. Today however, the performance on tap from the lowly turbo-four models is undeniable, and frankly much more affordable. The 2.0L Camaro Turbo is now more of an interesting proposition than ever, as HP Tuners have announced ECM support for the 2020 models.

The announcement came on the company’s Facebook yesterday, where they confirmed their support for the 2.0L Ecotec turbo-four with the Camaro-specific ECM. The aftermarket calibration will require tuners to use the latest VCM Suite Beta software and HP Tuners own interface. Licensing is available through HP Tuners for four credits, or just under $200 with their current sale. Quite the bargain considering you don’t have to pay for the full version of the VCM Suite.

By bringing this stock ECM support to the market, HP Tuners have just opened up the floodgates for 2020 Chevrolet Camaro Turbo owners. With concerns growing in recent years surrounding cybersecurity, automakers have locked down the computer systems in their vehicles. This in turn has put a number of restrictions on the ability to tune a vehicle for increased performance, unless you can crack the ECM. With that job now done thanks to HP Tuners, Camaro Turbo owners can now start to crank up their LTG engine, which already produces 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This might especially appeal to the select few that opted for the Camaro Turbo 1LE, which is equipped with several performance parts such as the Goodyear Eagle F1 tire, four-piston Brembo front calipers, and unique suspension work from the base model. Camaro Turbo owners can also opt for a Hurst shifter to improve over the factory version, as well.

While small engined muscle cars have always been viewed as the odd one out, the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro Turbo is now more capable than ever. With a significantly lighter front end and the fun of turbo wallop, this car offers a genuinely fun experience. Have your local shop turn up the boost with this HP Tuners software, and you could have yourself quite the four-cylinder muscle car.
