Chevrolet has just announced that both its new 2022 Silverado ZR2 as well as the Colorado ZR2 race trucks have won Best In The Desert class championships with wins at the Cal City Desert Challenge. These achievements mark the second consecutive championship for the Silverado ZR2 and the fourth straight championship for the Colorado ZR2. Ford Bronco, you listening?
The prototype Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 race truck has been competing in off-road races since 2019. Including the Vegas to Reno Best In The Desert race. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 has been entering racing competition with Chad Hall Racing long before that.

Chevrolet ZR2 Race Trucks Test Off-Road Technologies
Chad Hall Racing has been helping Chevrolet test and validate the off-road technologies going into the upcoming 2022 Silverado ZR2 production model. Similarly, the team helped test the Chevy Colorado ZR2 off-road technologies in competition. The Chad Hall Racing Colorado ZR2 has been competing in the Best In The Desert series since 2017 and is the only truck in its class to have finished every race entered, accumulating more than 22,500 miles of racing experience.
In addition, the Colorado ZR2 race truck helped test and validate 15 factory race components that are available to Chevy Colorado owners through local dealers. For those interested, some of the components include Multimatic long-travel DSSV dampers and long-travel leaf springs, a steel driveshaft, ball-spline half-shafts, a tie rod sleeve system, and jounce shocks.
Similar components have been developed for the Silverado, including long-travel suspension parts and a steel driveshaft, which were recently introduced at the 2021 SEMA show. If the Silverado ZR2 follows along with its older little brother, we can be confident that this is just the beginning of a successful racing record. Chad Hall Racing and the Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 race vehicles will kick up dust in just a few weeks on December 3rd, in the popular Mint 400, an independent race held on the outskirts of Las Vegas. The team will also attend the Best In The Desert award ceremony on December 11th, which will cap off another winning season.
