DOG FALLS FROM BUILDING, DODGE CHALLENGER SUNROOF SAVES IT

The French Bulldog Fell From Six Stories And Survived

There are few times in life when a figure of speech actually reflects reality. Pigs have yet to become an airborne species, and household pets generally don’t precipitate from the sky. Like anything in life however, it is important to never say never, as one Dodge Challenger owner found out late last week.

Images began to surface on Reddit Friday night of a young woman from Manhattan’s Lower East Side perched atop a silver Dodge Challenger, lifting a dog out of the car via a broken sunroof. Reddit user heiny_and_winst, who claims to be the owner of the French Bulldog named Winston in the photo, posted the following explanation:

For those of you wondering exactly how this even happened: his leash was removed before we entered our apartment after going on our nightly walk. Instead of going in our apartment, and for the very first time, he bolted up the next few flights of stairs. The roof access door had been left open and we found ourselves on the dark unlit roof. I tried to get him to come to me but he bolted again, towards the front edge of the building. I saw him try and slow down at the last second but it was too late and he went over the edge.

It is important to mention that the roof from which Winston took flight from is six stories high, and that the pup walked away relatively unharmed. Winston was immediately rushed to a nearby animal hospital to deal with a laceration on a hind leg, and to undergo further examination. Amazingly, this Frenchie didn’t break a single bone after plunging 60 feet before landing perfectly onto the muscle car’s sunroof below.

Onlookers and Redditers alike couldn’t believe what had just transpired, and apparently neither could the owner of the silver Dodge Challenger. Security footage taken from a store across the street captured Winston’s flight coming to an end, which ended up being enough to convince the owner of the Dodge Challenger of what had happened to his sunroof.

While there is a faction of car enthusiasts who despise sunroofs for the added weight and reduced headroom they provide, there is no doubt that Winston’s fall would have ended up very differently had he not landed on that pane of glass. We are willing to bet that Winston is done taking to the skies after this ordeal, but it does go to show that sometimes dogs really can rain from the sky.
