Despite the all-new, 14th generation 2021 Ford F-150 having the spotlight right now, the outgoing F-150 is still a fantastic truck. In fact, it was rather revolutionary when it came out, sporting aluminum construction. Whipple, the famed supercharger manufacturer, isn’t about to let this generation go out without a bang. To give it a proper sendoff, they’ve just introduced a 2018-2020 Ford F-150 supercharger that bumps power up to 735 hp for 5.0 liter Coyote V8 models.

This is the Gen 5 supercharger, which features improved sealing and higher efficiency than previous generations. The twin-screw supercharger also has an all-new 3/4 rotor combination. This results in a massive 735 hp and 685 lb-ft and torque at the crank on 93 octane gas. Helping hit those numbers and keep everything cool is an oversized air-to-water intercooler and Crusher air system.

As with most modern cars and trucks, Whipple had to fully reconfigure parts of the PCM to work with the supercharger and increased output it gives. Whipple’s calibration makes sure fuel, spark, knock detection, torque management, transmission control and electronic throttle control are all running smoothly. They’ve also reworked the transmission to run with the extra power, and keep peak power and torque accessible in the rev range. They’ve also made sure the different drive models all work in transmission shift points and throttle mapping with the supercharger.

All together, customers are looking at $7,900 for the system.

But incredibly, this is only the base package for Whipple’s Ford F-150 supercharger. For another $600, you can upgrade to Stage 2, giving a Roval 132mm billet throttle body, up from the standard 80mm unit. This boosts output to a crazy 775 hp and 685 ft-lbs of torque, again measured at the crank on 93 octane fuel.

Both the Stage 1 and 2 systems are direct bolt on parts with no cutting or grinding required. The supercharger also fits under the standard hood. As standard, the blower comes in black, but as with any Whipple supercharger, you can have them paint it in any custom color for an extra charge. It’s certainly a pricy upgrade for your 2018-2020 Ford F-150, but as a final hurrah for that truck, there’s nothing else like it with the balance of performance and quality Whipple offers.
