You would think that after all of the thefts Ford has dealt with over the past few years in Dearborn, Michigan. They would have increased security measures around the lot, but more needs to be done, as 15 gleaming trucks have been swiped from Ford facilities this month alone. That adds to the 22 trucks that went missing in July.

Why Do Thieves Keep Stealing The Ford F-150?

According to The Detroit Free Press, the trucks were stolen from lots where new cars are stored before being shipped to dealers nationwide. The report found that 15 new Ford F-150 and Raptor pickup trucks were taken from the lots, including ten that were stolen in a single night. With the most recent thefts, Ford is on track to surpass the number of vehicles stolen from its facility in 2022. Before this incident, 14 trucks were taken, which uncovered that the facility lacked video surveillance, and multiple cars had the keys left inside.

Based on this information, Ford has lost around an estimated $6 million worth of trucks due to the ongoing theft at its facilities. With the price for the 2023 Raptor starting at $76,775 and the 2023 Ford F-150 ranging from $33,695 to $84,910, just one truck means significant losses for the company. But at least they’re working on saving money by improving the quality of their products and reducing recalls.

Though the F-150 makes up the majority of vehicles being taken from Ford’s lots, it’s not the only vehicle being swiped, as four Mustangs and three “non-Ford vehicles parked on-site” have also been stolen this year. Still, as it stands, there are 85 pickup thefts alone. We’ll see what happens in the future, but it’s evident that this is a severe issue that the company continues to face.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
