CAN YOU DRIFT THE FORD F-150 RAPTOR R?

With One Little Trick, This Supercharged V8 Truck Is A Donut Machine

YouTuber, race track owner, and model American citizen Cleetus McFarland recently uploaded a video staring the legendary Ford F-150 Raptor R with smaller rear tires. Why? For drifting, of course. McFarland needed to obtain an F-150 Raptor R, which meant shelling out around $100,000. Luckily, drifting wasn’t his initial plan for this beast, but since it was time to switch out the tires, why not downsize? With a supercharged V8 engine, it has plenty of power, but power and smaller tires aren’t enough to get this thing swinging out the back end.

How To Turn Your Ford F-150 Raptor R Into A Hilarious Drift Truck

The conversion process for the F-150 Raptor R is straightforward, with removing the rear 37s and swapping them out in favor of significantly smaller and more road-oriented Nitto tires. Little guys. That makes the truck look silly, but McFarland didn’t stop there. Instead of buying new wheels for the project, the tires were mounted to the stock wheels that come with the Raptor R.

As for getting the tires to start smoking, placing the truck in fourth going on fifth gear is quite simple, thanks to the extreme levels of torque created by the truck’s 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. The engine has been upgraded to better suit the half-ton pickup, and the 10R automatic transmission was also upgraded for this particular vehicle. With a transfer case that allows for 2WD, auto 4WD, high-range 4WD, and low-range 4WD, there are plenty of options for the truck, though it’s apparent which one was used for this particular task.

Unsurprisingly, spinning out the back wheels resulted in several warning messages popping up on the instrument cluster, including drive modes not available, the engine light, the four-wheel-drive system, and the braking system. But, all of those wouldn’t stop the over 3 million subscribers YouTuber from burning through two sets of tires while filming the video regarding the drift truck. Check the video out for yourself to be massively entertained by the Ford F-150 Raptor R drift truck.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
