The Ford F-150 Raptor R is the ultimate Ford pickup truck; with 700 horsepower under the hood and upgraded suspension, it’s the best desert crawler money can buy, surpassing the Ram TRX due to its lighter disposition. What could make the dinosaur-guzzling truck even more extraordinary? How about six tires? Hennessey Performance recently unveiled a 6×6 version of the Raptor R, turning all six wheels with 700 ponies, this beautiful creation is called the VelociRaptoR, and no, my keyboard didn’t just break. That’S hoW it’S spelleD.
Hennessey 6×6 VelociRaptoR: Details
According to motor1, the Hennessey team kept the Raptor R’s supercharged 5.2-liter V8 the same because why should one mess with perfection? We’re sure that later down the line, modifications will be made to increase power, but as it stands, customers are pretty happy with the power output despite the addition of a larger bed and a second axle at the back.
As seen with other 6×6 builds from Hennessey, this one is a true six-wheeler with both rear axles receiving power. A custom eight-foot box is added to make them fit, stretching the truck to just over 27 feet in length. The epic truck rides on Hennessey’s 20-inch wheels with 37-inch tires wrapped around it, taking the capability to new heights and likely adding some frustration to others on a trail due to the big ruts that these things will inevitably carve in mud. A three-inch body lift was added to ensure the massive tires could clear the fenders. Fox dampers and Brembo brakes help keep the enormous rig under control when sending it over epic desert dunes.
Hennessey has also upgraded the LED lights and added the ever-important Hennessey badges with a big red R to ensure everyone knows this isn’t just any truck but the VelociRaptoR. According to Hennessey, the changes increase tractive grip by over 50 percent, and the long bed improves cargo capacity by 45 percent. Pricing for the Hennessey VelociRaptoR 6×6 starts at $499,999, enough to buy four standard Raptor Rs or five Ram TRX models.
