After the unveiling of the GMC Sierra EV, many have been anticipating the arrival of the fully electric pickup. It looks like the wait is finally over, as GMC has just announced that the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is preparing to begin retail production, with reservation holders being contacted one-by-one to ready sales. Moreover, a few minor tweaks are in store, as GMC recently confirmed range and towing improvements, as well as an MSRP drop for the Edition 1 model.
GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1: Details
By optimizing the GM Ultium battery technology, the company has bumped the standard output of the GMC Sierra EV to a GM-estimated 440 miles of range for the 2024 model year. That’s a 10 percent increase from the initially estimated range of 400 miles. That added range should help get customers to where they need to go, even when towing. On the note of towing the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will launch with an estimated 10,000 pounds of max towing and 1,450 pounds of max payload, which is an increase of 500 pounds and 150 pounds, respectively, from initial estimates.
The GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is loaded with features, including:
- GM-estimated 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in Max Power mode.
- 800 Volt DC Public Fast Charging is capable of up to 350kW, enabling up to 100 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes (if you can find a charging station actually capable of this).
- Available Super Cruise
- Air Ride Adaptive Suspension enables a more comfortable ride and the ability to raise and lower the truck by approximately 2 inches.
- 4-Wheel Steer, which not only enables CrabWalk but also enables all four wheels to work together for a smaller turning circle and improved maneuverability
- GMC’s first MultiPro MidGate, which provides a maximum load floor length of nearly 11 feet with the MidGate down and the MultiPro Tailgate’s load-stop open.
Dealerships are currently working with Edition 1 reservation holders on the ordering process. Deliveries of the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 are expected to start this summer at a final starting MSRP of $99,495 (including the $1,995 destination charge), or about $7,500 less than originally announced.
