The S650 Ford Mustang is finally reaching customers. And while that’s newsworthy on its own, everybody that could has been trying to figure out ways to get more power out of the new 5.0L Coyote V8 engine. In stock form, this fourth-gen Coyote punches out 485 hp to the crank in the the 2024 Mustang GT, and a fantastic 500 hp in the Mustang Dark Horse. Details on how Ford managed to extract all of that extra power can be found in our exclusive interviews with the new Mustang’s chief development engineer. But, what if a supercharger was added to the mix? Well, at the 2023 SEMA Show, Ford Performance previewed just that in the form of the Ford Mustang FP800S Concept: a Mustang GT with a 3.0L Whipple supercharger. Giddy up.
S650 Ford Mustang FP800S Concept Package: Details
The new Ford Mustang FP800S concept package joins the F-150 FP700 Package from Ford Performance Parts, bringing straining-line performance to street vehicles. The FP800S package can be added to any 2024 Mustang GT coupe and adds a new 3.0-liter, sixth-generation Whipple Supercharger kit, which is also available separately from the FP800S package. The supercharger bumps power output to at least 800 horses, which of course trumps your Dodge Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye muscle cars, which are ending production at the end of next month.
To help manage the fury of the additional horsepower over the standard Mustang GT, the FP800S includes a Ford Performance half-shaft upgrade kit and a street lowering kit. Options include a Borla Extreme cat-back exhaust with quad 5.0-inch tips and carbon-fiber aero elements. Both of these will give the S650 Mustang a sportier appearance along with improvements to the car’s capability.
The exhaust system and carbon fiber aero elements won’t just look fantastic on this vehicle, as they also serve a purpose. The aero-elements will increase downforce, helping the driver retain control over the all-new pony car while accelerating with all 800 ponies under the hood. Meanwhile, the exhaust sounds cool, but it will also help provide even more air to the engine, which will surely help performance numbers along the way. Just be aware that the street-lowering kit for this package may make it more challenging to enter parking lots if you live in a hilly area.
Be sure to check upgrades to the Ford Performance Parts catalog to see when the S650 Mustang FP800S package becomes available.
