Deliveries of the S650 Ford Mustang have been underway for a few weeks now, which has undoubtedly made many expecting fans excited as the newest version of the beloved American muscle car is truly something special. The car mates the classic muscle car design with more modern accents, plenty of tech, and, most importantly, a brand-new engine that’s more powerful than ever. However, as many customers are still waiting for delivery, it appears an Idaho State trooper has already received an S650 Ford Mustang, which has been converted into a police car.

And you’re still waiting for your order to process, aren’t you?

2024 Ford Mustang GT Police Car: Details

A recent post on the Mustang7g forum by br_an showcases a black 2024 Ford Mustang GT with State Trooper badging and graphics that point to this car being for the state of Idaho. As Dodge stops production of the Charger by December of 2023, it’s safe to assume that police departments will be looking for other potent cars to take its place, and what better car than the last muscle car to have a V8 engine under the hood? The back seat may be cramped for the individual in question if any arrests are made. More than likely, this is just a pursuit car, and though it’s no Dark Horse, it’ll still do a great job when going after the speeders in question.

Though this particular S650 Ford Mustang GT doesn’t have the performance package, it’s still quite capable of reaching high speeds. With a fourth-generation 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, which is easily identified by its twin air intakes feeding dual throttle bodies, the S650 Ford Mustang GT delivers 486 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque when equipped with an available active valve performance exhaust system. Without the exhaust system, the Mustang GT punches 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. It’s technically a gain of 10 horsepower from the 2022-23 model years, which got dinged to meet LEV III emissions standards.

So, if you’re in the Idaho area and happen to see a black S650 Ford Mustang GT, it’s best to assume that it’s a state trooper until you see whether or not it has the decals. The Ford Mustang could be our next speed-check vehicle while traversing the roads of this country.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
