GM REVIVING OLD HUMMER SLOGAN?

Get out your Smash Mouth CDs

The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup boasts independent front and rear suspension systems paired to the drive motors and are optimized for handling in all conditions.

Those who remember the early 2000’s resurgence of Hummer with the H2 and H3 SUVs (and the H3T truck), will certainly remember the brand’s catchphrase: “Like Nothing Else.” And while the old Hummers have long been discontinued from production, the marketing slogan could come back in some way.

The brand filed the phrase “Like Nothing Else” at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on March 8th, 2022, under the Goods and Services category used for “motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles, trucks and sport utility vehicles.”

The slogan was first used to market the Hummer H2 and H3 in the early 2000s when it really was like nothing else on the road. In fact, here’s an ad from that very period:

Before the H2 and H3, the only Hummer available was the AM General Humvee, and you couldn’t even really but it because it was strictly a military vehicle. It wasn’t until the ultimate action hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger, started to daily drive one on the streets of California that the brand switched gears to make a vehicle that was able to drive on the street, albeit take up most of it. That was the legendary Hummer H1.

With the release of the new all-electric Hummer, all that’s old is new again, and it appears that GM wants to recapture some of the original magic that the giant SUV brought forth nearly 20 years ago. When GM first shared marketing material of the GMC branded Hummer, it carried the phrase “Quiet Revolution”, but there’s nothing really symbolically quiet about a 9,000 pound SUV with 1,000 horsepower, so we think the throwback slogan is a much better fit for the truck.

GMC has received over 66,000 orders for the vehicle in both SUV and pickup truck forms, even with the Edition 1‘s hefty price of $112,595. Regular production models of the vehicle are expected to be available in 2023.

The all-electric vehicle is powered by two Ultium-drive electric motors, one on each end, and features a crab walk function that can turn the rear wheels independently of the front. for better prowess offroad.

The slogan therefore really holds true for the new all-electric model, there really is nothing else like it the road. And if not used for official marketing purposes, it’s likely to be an easter egg somewhere on the vehicles.

The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup uses three motors within two Ultium drive units to provide its e4WD.
