Over time, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro has transformed from being a blue-collar collectable muscle car to downright top-shelf unobtanium reserved for only the most wealthy among aficionados. Podcaster, UFC commentator and standup comedian Joe Rogan is one of those people who takes a particular liking to classic American muscle, and has the budget to make space for whatever he wants in his garage. Most recently, Roadster Shop completed a build for Rogan that cleans up and modernizes the ’69 Camaro while maintaining the beloved essence that the car is known for, and posted a video that shows us the ins and outs of the project.
Joe Rogan’s 1969 Chevrolet Camaro: Build Details
The build starts with a Roadster Shop SPEC chassis which helps bring the classic silhouette of the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro into the 21st century. The tone is set with upgrades to the handling dynamics, performance, and ride quality that Roadster Shop is known for. Starting under the hood is a Wegner-built GM LSA engine mated to a Bowler T-56 Magnum XL transmission, which helps send a monstrous 860 horsepower to the tires. Baer 6-piston brakes shrouded in satin black HRE P101SC wheels (18 x 9″ in the front and 19 x 12″ at the back) wrapped in Michelin tires help bring the beast of a Camaro to a halt in any situation.
Roadster Shop made sure to give the 1969 Chevy Camaro build the utmost attention to detail as they left very few elements, outside and in, left untouched. Avant-Garde Design executed an RS-designed interior with custom-made door panels, center console, dash top, and marvelously tailored Recaro Expert seats. The dash and the center console house a complete set of Dakota Digital gauges. Roadster Shop made sure that they gave the vehicle’s interior a touch of modern design and comfort that most people have become accustomed to with modern cars.
The exterior features a flawless deep gloss black exterior accented with subtle detail. A hand-made front lower valance incorporates new 3D printed driving lights. The 1969 Chevy Camaro also features a custom-made grille mesh and chin spoiler with tucked bumpers at the front and rear. Hand-made rocker moldings highlight the factory lines of the car. At the back, CNC machined quarter ‘gills’ and billet LED taillights to add to the classic look. Lastly, an entirely hand fabricated, 3-piece rear spoiler shows off the factory lines but creates a cleaner profile and tighter fit on the car.
Nice To See The Great Old Classics Made Even Better! Great Job Guys. How Fast Does It Go?
Not sure if they tested V-Max. That’s probably up to Joe to find out 🙂
