While a 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is still considered a “value proposition” based on what it can do versus other vehicles that are far more expensive, its MSRP is nothing to sneeze at. Starting at $77,260, the most powerful production Mustang ever built is firmly out of affordable muscle car territory, and is more in line with an optioned out C8 Corvette, perhaps almost as much as the new Z06 that’s coming this summer. But what if there was another way to own a GT500, without breaking the bank? Turns out, there is. The new LEGO Technic Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will set you back just $49.99, and it hits stores January 1st 2022.

For almost the same price as a Ford Accessories first aid kit, you can get a brand new Shelby Mustang GT500, albeit a LEGO. Per LEGO’s website, the set will consist of 544 pieces in total. After assembly of the lime green Mustang, you can pose it on a shelf, play with it on the floor as it will feature two pull-back motors (the real one doesn’t have that) and even test it out on a virtual test track using the LEGO Technic AR (Augmented Reality) app.

LEGO’s website claims this toy is geared towards children ages 9 and above, however once a car lover, always a car lover. Nobody is going to stop you grown men or women from owning a LEGO Mustang, at least not here at MC&T. The Shelby Mustang GT500 is the epitome of its class and the actual vehicle this LEGO Technic is based off of offers some jaw dropping stats.

If you’re still keen on owning the real deal, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 features a couple of updates for the 2022 model year, including the launch of the Heritage Edition, which can be optioned with the bonkers Carbon Fiber Track Package, should you feel so inclined to do so.
