There are some things in life that you really don’t need, but are just too cool to let pass. That’s just the case with Chevrolet’s new C8.R racecar inspired C8 Corvette car cover, which was discovered on the Chevrolet website. While it won’t turn you or your Corvette into a racer, it does provide just about the best way to protect your mid-engined sports car when it’s tucked away in the garage.
This C8.R car cover is a Chevrolet Accessory, and is perfectly fitted to the C8 Corvette. When on the car, it really does look just like the racer with fully rendered livery, lights, wheels and other details.
This isn’t a very durable car cover, though, and it’s mostly made for indoor storage. The cover is made from a layer of micro-porous film and a second cotton layer. This allows it to be breathable to let moisture escape and soft, but won’t protect from any harsh outdoor weather elements. If you plan to store your C8 Corvette in a garage over the winter, this will be the perfect way to protect it from dings and scratches. Plus, it’ll make the wait to bring it out in summer just a little more tolerable.
That amazing style comes at a price, though. The C8.R car cover, plus an included storage bag, lists for $1,195. That figure seems even higher when you consider an outdoor or indoor C8 Corvette car cover lists for a far more acceptable $450. They aren’t too plain either, as they get a few different color and Corvette graphics options.
Whether this C8.R Corvette car cover is worth the price is up for debate, but you can’t deny it’s a very cool accessory for the mid-engined ‘Vette. Plus, if you can afford a new Corvette, chances are you can afford the fancy cover too.
