Ford has been on a roll with releasing teasers to ramp up the hype for the debut of the 2024 S650 Mustang, which is just days away now. The latest teaser, posted to the Ford Performance Facebook page, is a 15-second video where your ears can experience pure joy as the V8 screams and the upcoming muscle car shifts through its gears.

After listening to the video, you wouldn’t be the only one that thinks this sounds like a race car. The downshifts sound like they’re coming from a straight cut gear transmission, and if you’re an GT racing fan, that’s a sound you’re very familiar with. This is why we’re betting this is the S650 Mustang GT3, which will be part of the reveal for the next-generation Mustang, based on this teaser post.

S650 Ford Mustang GT3 Race Car: Details

The S650 Ford Mustang GT3 race car will feature a 5.0L Coyote-based V8 engine developed by Ford Performance. It’ll be built by a long-time racing collaborator and world championship-winning team, M-Sport out of Cumbria, England. Ford and M-Sport have been enjoying a fruitful rally racing partnership, so it makes sense that they continue to work together in other ventures.

Of course, the Coyote-based V8 in the S650 Mustang GT3 race car will feature some performance and packaging modifications, where the vehicle will move the gearbox to the back of the car, likely to push the 5.0L V8 closer to the center of the vehicle. The race car will also feature bespoke Short-Long Arm suspension front and rear, rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, carbon fiber body panels, and a unique aero package developed to meet GT3 targets.

The Corvette Racing team may get a bit miffed if they start losing to Ford Mustangs, but after listening to the audio in the video. It’ll be fun to watch both teams compete. The new Mustang GT3 race car will compete in the GTD Pro class of IMSA competition, starting with the 2024 racing season, and we certainly can’t wait.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
