Shelby American might be best known for their work in the 1960s, but the performance company still cranks out some serious metal today. And while you might assume that the work they do with the Ford Mustang is their most popular offering, that simply isn’t the case. Instead, Shelby American sells more modified Ford trucks every year than they do hopped-up muscle cars. In order to keep up with what buyers want, the company has just announced the 2021 Shelby F-250 Super Baja. This modified Ford F-250 Super Duty packs over 1,000 ft-lb of torque, and has enough off-roading hardware to make the F-150 Raptor nervous. Here’s what you need to know.

The Shelby F-250 Super Baja starts life as a Ford F-250 Lariat Ultimate, complete with 4×4 and the 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 engine. The diesel is a potent engine straight from Ford, with output ratings of 475 horsepower and 1,050 ft-lb of torque. As a result, Shelby American left the powertrain alone, instead opting to find performance in other places. More specifically, the suspension system has been entirely reworked with a little help from Fox. The truck now rides on a set of Fox 2.5 front coilovers, complete with some backup adjustable reservoir shocks. The rear has been fit with some Fox 2.5 factory race shocks, also fit with some piggyback reservoirs. These work in tandem with a BDS suspension lift, custom front radius arms, adjustable upper control arms, and a Fox 2.0 dual steering stabilizer.

Of course the team at Shelby didn’t stop with the suspension upgrades. There are a ton of visual tweaks that have been made as well, including their unique front and rear bumpers with integrated LEDs. The front grille has also been painted to match the body, as have the new fender flares. Like a proper Baja vehicle, the truck features a custom chase rack with room for two spare tires and wheels. Speaking of wheels and tires, the truck rides on a set of 18-inch custom wheels wrapped in 37-inch BFG KM3 rubber. Other visual tweaks include XL power steps with rock sliders and lights, exterior striping and badging kits, powder coated exhaust tips, and deep tinted windows.

Step inside the Shelby F-250 Super Baja and you are treated to a custom interior, complete with re-trimmed leather seats and carbon fiber accents. Stainless steel gauges and billet pedals hint at the sporty intentions of the truck as well. Like every Shelby American vehicle, the interior is also graced with a set of serialized badges and Super Baja logos.

The 2021 Shelby F-150 Super Baja carries an MSRP of $125,805, though that price includes the donor truck purchase. That might seem like a lot of cash, but this isn’t a high-volume vehicle. In fact, Shelby only plans to build 250 of these truck’s for 2021. If you are in the market for a Ford F-250 but don’t want to be like everyone else, this might just be your answer.
