The Ford F-150 Raptor R has been teased almost since the debut of the third-generation Raptor . Since January, we have gotten information bit by bit, all falling into place to help us paint a picture of exactly what this truck will be. The most potent version of the Ford F-150 is expected to feature the Predator 5.2-liter V8 engine from the Shelby GT500, meaning it’ll pack quite the punch. As customers get excited, we continue to wonder when Ford will open up the order books for the upcoming truck. According to AutoEvolution, it’ll be immediately after the Raptor R debuts.

Previously, we had learned that Ford planned on opening the order books for the F-150 Raptor R this fall, which meant that it wouldn’t be a 2022 model. However, new reports say that customers will be able to order the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R immediately after its debut. This makes sense since Ford has done this with other recently launched vehicles. Ford is expected to open the order banks for the 2023 F-150 lineup on July 18, and we can’t imagine that the Raptor R will be lagging too far behind.

Ford F-150 Raptor R: What To Expect

Aside from the potent V8 engine, the F-150 Raptor R is expected to feature a more robust rear suspension fortified by structural enhancements such as beefier trailing arms. All modifications done to the truck will likely be to accommodate the added power, as the standard Raptor already has some of the best off-road components you can get. In addition to the engine, the Raptor R could feature the same 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as the Shelby GT500, which means it’ll have faster shifting.

It’s important to remember not to get your hopes up for the ultimate version of the F-150, as it will likely be scarce. On forums, people have shared that their dealers have stated that the Raptor R is already sold out, even though order books haven’t opened yet.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
