You see some great things on the used car market. You see some rare, or special things. Once in a while, there’s something a bit out there. But it’s not often that you see something this strange. Welcome to the truly bonkers 1987/2011 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z/SS. We aren’t quite sure what to call it, but it just sold on Facebook Marketplace.
What you are looking at is a 1987 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z, with the front and rear facia of a 2011 Camaro SS. The car is powered by a seemingly original 350 cubic inch L98 V8 engine, sent to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission. When new, this gave the third-generation Camaro 225 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. This took it from 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds, although age and modifications may limit that for this example.
Other than the disproportionately long front overhang, the owner seems to have done the modifications well. The seller notes the car runs, but is a project. The interior isn’t in bad shape either. The person who built it, who we guess is the seller, obviously did so with care and attention. They note in the listing to, “please keep all negative comments to yourself”. Surprisingly, a scroll through the comments shows most people love its uniqueness.
Welcome to the Freak Show, everybody.
We hope whoever bought it plans to give it some real love. Right now it’s a bit of a budget rest-mod, but with some effort, it could end up as a very cool project. If we were to fix it up, we would firstly focus on getting it to running order, and maybe add some performance modifications. As for cosmetics, it mainly needs paint and a good detail. With some TLC, you could have one of the most unique Camaro’s out there. Overall, we admire this Camaro, however strange it may be.
