THIS WILL BE THE ONLY WAY MOST OF US WILL DRIVE A FORD MUSTANG GT3 OR A CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R

Both FIA GT3 Race Cars Are Headed To iRacing

Ford Mustang GT3 Debuting On iRacing

The Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette are two of America’s most iconic automobiles, and their latest iterations are no different. Moreover, their respective histories are steeped in motorsports, racing everywhere from road courses carved out between cornfields in the heartland to the most epic tracks in the world like La Sarthe, Road America, the Nürburgring, Spa, Monza, and Watkins Glen. If there’s sports car racing, it’s basically guaranteed that one of these cars can be found. But racing is expensive, time consuming, and risky, which means most of us are left out of the opportunity to drive the new S650 Ford Mustang GT3 or C8 Corvette GT3.R in our lifetimes. However, if you’re willing to settle for sim racing, you’re in luck. iRacing has recently announced a few new adds to its list of vehicles, and these two American race cars will be available for virtual competition starting June 3, 2024.

Both Ford Performance and Pratt Miller Motorsports shared the update on their respective X accounts, showing off images of the upcoming Ford Mustang GT3 and Corvette Z06 GT3.R coming to iRacing.

Both the Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Ford Mustang GT3 are homologated to FIA GT3 racing specifications, massively widening their appeal to privateer teams and multiple racing leagues around the globe. This includes IMSA, WEC, SRO and others. Moreover, there are several teams waiting in the wing for their new race cars to be built, as there’s reportedly no shortage of orders for either one. Multimatic Motorsports has been tasked with building every Ford Mustang GT3 race car, like it did for the Ford GT before it. Meanwhile, Pratt Miller Motorsports takes care of building each and every Corvette Z06 GT3.R for customers, working very closely with Chevrolet Performance to get the job done.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
