Cadillac has just announced that it will offer an epic option for major fans of the legendary CT5-V Blackwing, that is, 21 hand-built examples of the car. Since 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Cadillac’s V-series performance models, we can expect these cars to not only be unique due to how they’re built and the options they will have, but we imagine easter eggs will be hidden throughout. In fact, the decision to make 21 cars is an easter egg in and of itself, as production of V-models started in 2004, and if you do the (GM) math… the answer is somehow 21.
2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 20th Anniversary Edition: Details
Select media recently got a closer look at the process of making these very special Cadillac CT5-V Blackwings. Each Blackwing 20th Anniversary Edition is assembled by hand by a team of six to eight people from start to finish at the GM Artisan Innovation Center. The process begins with bodies painted in black, and the cars then receive inspections for imperfections before being scuffed in preparation for the final paint. Regarding paint, customers can choose from a palette of over 20 exclusive colors unavailable on the standard CT5-V models.
After each model is hand-painted, the LT4 V8 engine arrives in a crate from GM’s Performance Build Center in Bowling Green, where the team proceeds to meticulously assemble each vehicle by hand, taking around 200 to 300 hours to complete. From there, a concierge team stands ready to overnight paint samples and fabric swatches back and forth until the customer is entirely satisfied with the car’s hue. The final product features a requisite “1 of 21” sill plate, unique shifter emblem, B-pillar plaque, and a serial number plate on the steering wheel. However, this only scratches the surface of the personalization available to customers.
There are three interior color combos to choose from: brown and black Signet, black-and-red Adrenaline Red color scheme, and a red, gray, and black Skycool. There are also two exterior carbon fiber packages, four caliper color choices, and three-wheel choices, and customers can also tie the cosmetics of the very special CT5-V Blackwing to a previous generation V-Series model from 2005 through 2024.
Being exceptionally rare, the CT5-V 20th Anniversary Edition package, where your car is built by hand and customized to your taste, is said to cost $36,000 USD on top of the near $100,000 USD starting price of a 2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.
Capping off the process, owners will receive a signed photo of all the team members who built their car upon delivery. These exceptional cars will only be available to the most dedicated Cadillac fans out there, using current dealerships and their knowledge of which local Cadillac enthusiasts are the most dedicated to the brand. Making these cars so personal could discourage opportunistic flipping, but history has proven otherwise.
