Back in January, we were sad to report that Chevrolet had canceled the visible carbon fiber aero kit for the 2020 Corvette. The option turned out to be so popular that demand overwhelmed Chevrolet’s supplier. Now, the same is happening for the High Wing Spoiler, as the option will no longer be available for 2020. This comes with a variety of accessory changes, uncovered by CorvetteBlogger.
For Q3 2020, Chevy has notified dealers of changes to the C8 Corvette accessories. The biggest letdown is the loss of the high wing spoiler, as it really boosts the aggression of the C8. It’s certainly a bummer to see yet another C8 accessory go away.
As previously reported, the visible carbon fiber aero kit isn’t expected to arrive before 2021. You can still get the front splitter and rocker panel kit in either black painted or carbon fiber painted carbon flash finish. If you’re set on exposed carbon, you can still get the visible carbon rocker panels as a standalone option starting Q3.
But where there is loss, there also is gain. For Q2, the 2020 Corvette will get new rubber trunk liners with the Corvette and “Racing Jake” helmet logo and a new indoor car cover that features the C8.R livery design. Chevy must have also been reading the news from last winter’s C8 Corvette that had its wheels stolen, as they are also introducing some Ultra High Security wheel locks.
The report also confirms the timetable for the 2020 Corvette we covered earlier. The original plan before COVID-19 was for seven months of C8 production before swapping to the 2021 model. Because of the two month shutdown, Chevy extended 2020 Corvette production 2 months, finishing up in late October.
With this, we also have confirmation the 2020 Corvette Convertible will happen. It was previously reported that the drop-top would have to wait until 2021, but production for this model will begin July 20.
