If there was ever an automaker that could conjure images of military service, it would have to be Jeep. The original Willys Jeep played a vital role in the Allied Forces’ liberation of Europe during the Second World War, forever cementing the off-road vehicle in military and U.S. history. Jeep have never forgotten their military routes, and now FCA will honor U.S. military service members with the new 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom edition.

Based on the Wrangler Sport S model, the special edition Jeep will be available with the 3.6L Pentastar V6, or the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. A six-speed manual is standard on the V6, though the four-pot requires you to spec the 8-speed automatic transmission, a $2,750 option for either powertrain. The Freedom edition features a number of military-inspired touches both on the exterior and inside the cabin. Exterior details include an American flag displayed prominently above the Jeep logo on both the driver and passenger side front fenders, a new “Oscar Mike” badge featured on the rear tailgate, and a large “Oscar Mike” military star decal is found on the hood. The package also includes a black premium Sunrider soft top, deep-tint rear windows and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels finished in Satin Carbon wrapped in all-terrain tires.

Hop inside this service-inspired Jeep Wrangler and you’ll find McKinley black cloth seats with black leather bolsters, which feature unique Light Tungsten accent stitching. The “Oscar Mike” logo is also embossed on the seat backs in the same Light Tungsten stitching, also found on the steering wheel, the door cards and the front armrest.

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition will only be offered in Firecracker Red, Bright White and Ocean Blue paint for the initial production run, though Jeep states that Black, Granite Crystal, Sting Gray, Billet, Punk’n, Hellayella and Bikini will be available shortly after.

In order to further show their support for the armed forces, Jeep says that they will make a $250 donation to the United Service Organizations for every 2020 JL Wrangler Freedom edition that is sold. The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition has an MSRP of $34,190 for the two-door model and $37,690 for the four-door variant.
