Ford has earned two of the most coveted accolades the automotive industry has to offer after the 2021 Mustang Mach-E and 2021 Ford F-150 earned the 2021 North American Utility and Truck of the Year awards.
This is actually the first time since 2014—when Chevrolet took honors for the C7 Corvette Stingray and the Silverado 1500—that the same brand has won multiple NACTOY titles in the same year.
The sleek aesthetic of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, spirited ride and handling, and state-of-the-art connected vehicle technology propelled it to the top of the selection list for SUV of the Year. The all-new 2021 Ford F-150 also brings new connected vehicle innovations such as over-the-air updates, a hybrid powertrain, and an integrated power generator that helped it conquer the category.
“The North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year awards are among the most prestigious in the industry and such an honor serves as a capstone achievement for years of hard work for the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 teams,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Ford Americas and IMG.
Aside from the NACTOY awards, both the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E and the redesigned 2021 Ford F-150 have featured heavily on the awards circuit over the past few months. In December both earned accolades as the Edmunds Top Rated Luxury EV and Edmunds Top Rated Truck of 2021, joining their dual crown from the Green Car Journal as 2021 Green Car of the Year and Green Truck of the Year. On its own, the 2021 Mustang Mach-E was also was named Best Car to Buy 2021 by The Car Connection and Green Car Reports earlier this month.
The North American Car, Truck of the Year have always recognized benchmark vehicles in their segments based on factors including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, and value. The winners are chosen by an independent jury of automotive journalists from the United States and Canada of varying backgrounds, focuses, expertise, and competencies.
