LEBRON JAMES CHECKS OUT THE NEW GMC HUMMER EV

Unfortunately, He Won’t Be Driving This Static Model

During the teaser campaign for the GMC Hummer EV, LeBron James was a central figure. Who better to advocate for GM’s new flagship EV than one of the greatest basketball players of all time? General Motors is certainly gunning for a parallel between their product being the best EV truck and James’ basketball history. But now that the Hummer EV has been officially revealed, GMC needs to do more than just put his face on a Hummer photo. And they have: James just put a video up on the Swish YouTube channel of him checking out the Hummer EV.

But this isn’t an automaker giving an influencer a vehicle to make content with over a six month period, as this Hummer unfortunately doesn’t drive. That’s because it’s the exact same static Hummer EV model that other YouTube channels have checked out last year, so all LeBron James can do is a walk around it. The title of the video suggests he’s taking delivery of the truck, but this is misleading. Still, he seems pretty excited about the pickup.

It’s safe to assume that James will eventually get a Hummer EV, as he’s been the central celebrity ambassador for the new sub brand since the Super Bowl commercial aired last year. This year, we expect the GMC Hummer EV SUV variant to be teased or revealed during the Super Bowl, so it’s very possible that James will once again make an appearance in an advertisement.

The GMC Hummer EV pickup will reach customers hands, pending any delays, in fall 2021, so even LeBron James will have to wait quite a while to get his new electric pickup truck. It’ll be expensive too, with the top of the line First Edition Hummer EV starting at $112,595. Still, the truck will be worth it to those that can afford it, with hugely impressive specs. The tri-motor setup will produce 1,000 hp and “11,500 lbs ft of torque,” which will propel the heavy beast to 60 mph in just 3 seconds.
