Cadillac has officially announced the arrival of three new special edition variants of the CT4-V Blackwing, which will be known as the Mondrian Editions. These three new variants pay homage to the automaker’s various racing wins and the V-Series era, which as existed since 2004.
Prior to the Cadillac Hypercars competing in top-tier endurance racing, and before the Cadillac DPi-V.R cars prior to those, Cadillac competed in World Challenge GT racing. First with the original CTS-V, followed by the second-generation CTS-V Coupe, and then the ATS-V. It was here that Cadillac Racing saw plenty of success from 2004 through 2017, including five championships.
Just what, or who, is Mondrian? If you pay close attention to how Cadillac designers incorporated colorful rhombi inside and out of these special edition CT4-V Blackwings, which resemble the “V-Series” flag, we credit this style to the late Piet Mondrian. He was of Dutch descent, and is considered to be one of the best abstract artists of the 20th century.
2024 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Mondrian Edition: Details
Three unique Mondrian Edition Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing vehicles will be limited to 66 units each. These include the Arrival Edition, Impact Edition, and Elevation Edition. But why so few? Cadillac chose 66 to match the number of race wins since 2004, and each version gets unique interior and exterior details. Indeed, these will be extremely rare.
As for the production timeline of these vehicles, The Arrival Edition will start production this August and will be finished in Mercury Silver Metallic, an exclusive V-Series heritage color celebrating the 1st generation of the V-Series. The car also receives red mirror caps and a Mondrian decal on the side. Next will be the Impact Edition, built to celebrate the 2nd generation. It comes in a darker Black Raven color scheme with contrasting red mirrors. Lastly, the Elevation Edition offers the most eye-catching color of Velocity Red, with black mirror caps. Be careful with this one, as brighter colors tend to be more noticeable when speeding, which will be hard not to do behind the wheel of this car.
But wait! There’s more! Each 2024 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing version gets a unique wake-up animation, red brake calipers, both available carbon-fiber exterior packages, carbon fiber front brakes, a builder’s plate that marks the serial number, and 20th-anniversary sill plates. With 66 different sill plates, each one commemorates a different V-Series victory.
Pricing information isn’t immediately transparent, but will be soon. Still, considering the extremely low production volume, we expect these very special CT4-V Blackwings to have a significant price tag over the standard MSRP, perhaps when we get closer to the start of production, and the exact number will be revealed.
