2024 CHEVROLET COLORADO HAS SOME UPDATES YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

A Bigger Standard Screen, And The Elimination Of One Engine

As the midsize pickup truck segment is about to be the most competitive it’s been in ages, GM has taken the liberty to improve the standard equipment on the Chevrolet Colorado for the 2024 model year. This comes as Ford is set to launch its new Ranger, and Toyota a new Tacoma here in the United States and Canada.

What’s New For The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado?

To start, according to the GM Fleet Order Guide, via Pickup Truck/SUV Talk, the high-output turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder L3B engine will now be dubbed the TurboMax engine, like the Silverado. The tune-making 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque is now optional for the WT and LT trims (yay!) and standard on the Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. Chevy is eliminating the Turbo Plus L3B version that produced 310 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.

This streamlines things a bit, with the base L2R engine for the 2024 Colorado WT and Colorado LT, which makes 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft, and the TurboMax L3B for everything else. This also creates more manufacturing synergy with the GMC Canyon, which exclusively offers the high-output L3B.

Another big update for the 2024 Colorado is the addition of an 11-inch driver information display, which is now standard on all trims. That means the 8-inch screen has been scrapped from the truck. Additionally, the WT Convenience Package now comes with a floor console generally unavailable on the WT trim. A Dark Essentials Package with a black Bowtie emblem is available for the WT, LT, and Z71 trims. Meanwhile, a Front Fender Decal Package is an option for the LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. Chevrolet is also improving safety for customers when they order the Advanced Trailering Package on the WT, Trail Boss, and Z71 as the trucks get Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering. This feature is standard on the ZR2.

But that’s not all, as the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is now available with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with a Tech Bronze decorative ring. The ZR2 Bison Edition has an optional Recovery Package, but the fleet order guide doesn’t list its contents. In addition, new options include an Off-Road Lighting Package, Sports Bar Package, Kicker stereo, Hood Decal Package, black tailgate lettering, and black assist steps.

There are still no pricing details for the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison, but it shouldn’t be much longer until that gets announced, as the truck is expected to go on sale sometime this fall.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
