FIFTH-GENERATION CHEVROLET CAMARO GETS NEW MAGNUSON BLOWER KIT

For LS3 And LSA V8 Powered Vehicles

Muscle cars and superchargers go together as well as peanut butter and jelly. The whine of a blower mixed with the roar of a V8 engine is one of the most intoxicating automotive experiences one can have. With SEMA360 in full swing at this point, the folks at Magnuson Superchargers have just rolled out a whole new lineup of supercharger kits for the 5th-gen Chevrolet Camaro.

The new kit from Magnuson Superchargers has been specifically designed for use with either the LS3 or LSA V8 engines. The LS3 was found in both the C6 Corvette and the 5th-gen Chevrolet Camaro SS, as well as the Chevrolet SS sedan and the Pontiac G8 GXP. The factory-supercharged LSA on the other hand came exclusively in the second-gen CTS-V and the previous-gen Camaro ZL1. Regardless of which vehicle you start with, this new 3.1L supercharger kit from Magnuson promises a serious increase in performance.

The kit features Eaton’s new TVS R3100 supercharger, which is an upgraded and upsized variant of the TVS R2650 found on the Shelby GT500. The new blower retains its high-twist, four-lobe rotor layout, and is said to bring at least 10 percent more airflow than the TVS R2650. Despite the increase in displacement and airflow, the exterior dimensions of TVS R3100 supercharger have only grown 15 percent compared to the smaller 2.65L blower. That means that the fitment under the hood is relatively unchanged, and shouldn’t cause installation issues at your local shop.

Magnuson Superchargers say that the new Hot Rod LS3/LSA 3100 supercharger system will launch in early 2021, though the company has yet to release any pricing information. A big blower like this one isn’t going to be a cheap upgrade, but it will certainly change the character of your car. If you’re chasing modern ZL1 performance numbers with your slightly older Chevrolet Camaro, you likely need not look much further.
