Pickup truck buyers are among the most likely of all car owners to modify their vehicles, with accessories ranging from off-roading enhancements to job site oriented finishings. For owners of either 2019+ half-ton GM trucks equipped with the 6.2L V8, MBRP has just unveiled a new 3-inch dual exhaust system that helps bring some more noise from your pickup.

MBRP started their foray into the aftermarket by building silencers for snowmobiles some 20 years ago, but the company has been building exhaust systems for diesel and gasoline powered trucks since 2011. This new system for the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a part of their Sport Line series, and features a high-flow muffler which was originally developed for use in off-shore marine engines. This muffler brings MBRP their unique sound profile, which is much deeper and more mellow than other aftermarket solutions.

The 3-inch system is constructed from either aluminized T-409 stainless or T-304 stainless steel, and it is completely a bolt-on kit. No welding is required, and all of the factory mounts are retained. Any additional hardware is provided with the kit, which MBRP says should only take owners about two hours to install. The fan-favorite exhaust bezels on the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are also retained, as the system just ends up dumping into the factory exit.

Furthermore, MBRP are dedicated to being emissions compliant, and all of their systems are designed with factory catalytic converters in mind. The Active Fuel Management system that the half-ton GM Trucks come equipped with is also not altered, though it can be tuned out elsewhere should buyers prefer a constant V8 burble.

On startup, this exhaust system really makes the 6.2L L87 V8-equipped trucks sound like a genuine muscle car. The video shows that the low and throaty tone doesn’t appear to drone in the cabin at highway speeds, but offers plenty of the V8 goodness when your foot touches the floor. MBRP hasn’t posted the 3-inch exhaust system for the 2019+ trucks on their website yet, but you can check out their full lineup of products here.
