Hoonigan is your one-stop destination for all things epic. From superb vehicle builds to thrilling drag races, they have it all. This is why if you’re a car fan, you are no doubt subscribed to their YouTube channel or at the very least have heard of them. For example, the latest drag race in their This vs. That series pits a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS with 1,000 horsepower against a 2016 Dodge Charger Hellcat with 900 horses.
Chevy Trailblazer SS vs. Dodge Charger Hellcat: 1900 HP War
Usually, one would say that the Hellcat is going to win this race due to the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 lying under the hood. But it’s pitted against something that is certainly not your average Chevrolet Trailblazer SS. This SUV has a 6.6-liter turbocharged V8 at its heart, and with 100 ponies more than the Hellcat, it could very well win. The transmission of the Trailblazer is only a 4-speed automatic, and in total, the SUV weighs 5,000 pounds. Compared to the Hellcat, which has an 8-speed automatic and weighs just 4,500 pounds, things look more competitive.
Of course, no This vs. That drag race is complete without everyone putting in their predictions, and it seems like there’s a unifying belief that the Trailblazer will take home the trophy minus one. After warming up the tires, the two line up for the 1,000-foot head-to-head race. The Trailblazer was quicker off the line than the Hellcat, which gave it a bit of a head start against the muscle car, but even so, it gained a few car lengths of room between itself and the Dodge when crossing the finish line.
The second round of racing came with some modifications that would give the Dodge a bit of an edge, but the Trailblazer pulled away from the Dodge and took the win. The third and final race has the Dodge getting a rolling start while the Trailblazer kicks off once getting the signal. This was just the advantage the Dodge needed to take the lead, but the modified Trailblazer is undoubtedly the crown winner of the day.
