DODGE COULD BE WORKING ON A RWD VERSION OF THE CHARGER DAYTONA EV

It Could Be Both More Affordable, And More Fun

The all-new Dodge Charger offers performance choices via multi-energy powertrain options, including the 550-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. (shown here) powered by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane High Output engine and the 420-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK S.O. fueled by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane Standard Output engine.

Dodge has been busy implementing aspects should theoretically make the car more enjoyable to drive than a typical EV. However, more is needed, not when it’s meant to replace something as legendary as the Hemi V8. Dodge is pushing a duo of two-door all-electric muscle cars to start, and it’s even offering free performance upgrades for the vehicle’s initial model year to give further incentive to customers.

Dodge hasn’t revealed pricing for the new Charger Daytona EV, but it’s safe to assume that it’ll be substantially more expensive than the outgoing Challenger and Charger models it’s replacing. Luckily, Dodge is aware of this, and according to Mopar Insiders, the brand could be working on a cheaper electrified Charger model for the 2025 model year, a Charger GT model that uses rear-wheel drive rather than the all-wheel drive R/T and Scat Pack models.

If Dodge is really working on a rear-wheel drive Dodge Charger GT, then we expect it to have less power than the Daytona R/T as that makes use of a dual EDM powertrain, which produces a base power of 456 horsepower. With a rear-wheel drive model only using a single EDM, we can divide that number in half, which comes to 228 horsepower. That said, since that’s such a sad number for a muscle car, it’s likely Dodge will increase its power figures to reach at the very least 300.

It’s believed that this Dodge Charger Daytona GT will be available on both two-door and four-door models and will arrive at some point in the second half of 2025. An electric Dodge Charger Daytona GT with RWD could be a promising prospect for the brand, especially if they can make it relatively affordable and with 350 miles of range.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
