The Woodward Dream Cruise is undeniably the United States’ largest single-day celebration of car culture every year. Gearheads from across the country flock to drive along the 27 mile stretch of road that runs between Detroit and Pontiac, commonly referred to as “Detroit’s Main Street.” Woodward Avenue became the first paved road in the United States back in 1909, and has remained the spiritual home of American car culture ever since. History also lines both sides of the highway, including Ford’s Piquette and Highland Park factories that produced the Model T. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Woodward Dream Cruise, and of course, Ford has plans to celebrate.

To kick off the weekend of celebrating American car culture, Ford and the non-profit JDRF announced that they will raffle off a custom 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 in a one-of-one paint color, in order to help support JDRF’s annual push to raise money for Type 1 diabetes research. While we don’t know much about this “Venom Mustang”, we were fans of the 2019 Bullitt Mustang that Ford and JDRF collaborated on for a similar raffle last year.

A group of Ford Performance vehicles will begin a trek down Woodward in a flying V formation at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 16th. Ford has not said what vehicles will take part in the journey, but we are willing to bet that a new Shelby GT500 and/or a Ford GT will make this a sight to see.

Saturday is always the biggest day for Dream Cruise festivities, and this year is no different. Like last year, Ford will host Mustang Alley just off of Woodward in Ferndale, on 9 Mile Road. As many as 1,000 Mustangs of various eras are expected to line the street, a grouping that Ford says should span a whole mile.

For the locations of Ford’s various displays and activities on August 17th, see the list below:

Mustang Alley: 9 Mile between Woodward Avenue and Bermuda Street, Ferndale
Ford family fun zone: Pioneer Park, 4232 Parkway Drive, Royal Oak
Full Ford Performance lineup display: Duggan’s Irish Pub, 31501 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak
Ford trucks display: CVS, 30900 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak
Bronco Club parking: Memorial Park, 23925 Woodward Ave., Pleasant Ridge
Ford Fund’s Driving Skills for Life display: Westborn Market, 27659 Woodward Ave., Berkley
