By now you’ve certainly heard about the 2022 Ford Maverick and its $19,995 base price. Despite arriving on the market as the cheapest truck you can buy, this compact machine offers a ton of hardware even in its most basic spec. That said, there are more than a few ways in which you can increase the sales price of your Ford Maverick. Like with several of Ford’s recent vehicles, early customers will have a chance to option a special package that brings a ton of equipment and styling changes to the pickup. Known as the Ford Maverick Lariat First Edition, this range topping model deserves a bit of a deep dive of its own. Here is everything you need to know about this top-flight compact truck.
2022 Ford Maverick Lariat First Edition: Package Details
As the name might suggest, the First Edition package is only available on the Maverick Lariat trim. The Lariat itself carries an MSRP of $25,490, but the First Edition package brings that number quite a bit higher. The package itself is only $1,495, but it also requires you to option the $3,340 Lariat Luxury Package. With destination charges included, that brings the base price of this special edition pickup to $32,360. That is a significant chunk of change, but you get a ton of style for that money. The Ford Maverick Lariat First Edition comes with a black painted roof, black mirror caps, a power-sliding moonroof, a soft folding tonneau cover, and a unique hood and graphics package. 17-inch aluminum wheels come with the 2.0L EcoBoost powertrain, while the standard hybrid models get a set of black 18-inch wheels as part of the package.

Stepping up the 2.0L EcoBoost engine and AWD bring the starting price of the 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat First Edition up to $35,665 with destination charges. This is something a lot of customers will likely choose to do, as a FWD pickup isn’t going to be for everybody. If you do spec the First Edition package however, your paint options are limited to Area 51, Carbonized Gray, and Rapid Red. Not a bad selection, but we would’ve liked to have seen options like Cyber Orange and Antimatter Blue make their way onto the options list.
F-150 Money For A Maverick
As we’ve seen with the Mustang Mach-E and the Ford Bronco models, customers will likely snap up these 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat First Edition models. Ford hasn’t said whether or not they will be limiting production of the special package, but that has been the case thus far. That said, spending F-150 money on the compact truck may be a bit tough for some buyers. Of course the level of equipment on offer at that price is hard to beat, but pricing doesn’t stop at $35,665. Load one of these special edition trucks up on the configurator and you’re looking at spending over $40,000. That is double what the base model XL costs, and is more comfortably in the F-150 range. Then again the whole reason this truck exists is that not everyone wants a proper half-ton.
