When the Ford Raptor debuted for the 2010 model year, it forever changed the pickup segment. Off-roading had always been a popular hobby for pickup enthusiasts, but never before had there been a factory-built truck quite like the Raptor. Whether it be soaring around the sand dunes or crawling down a rocky trail, the Raptor carries a bit of pre-runner capability in its DNA. Perhaps that is exactly why teams like Spitfire Racing have turned to the Raptor as a launching point for their race truck builds. We are certain however that there’s never been another Raptor quite like this Jimco Racing Luxury Pre-Runner built for Spitfire Racing.
For starters, it is an inherent rule that anything named after the famed Spitfire fighter plane must be really cool. We can report without a doubt that Jimco Racing has not missed the mark with this one. What started life as a rather capable Ford truck is now transformed into a one of a kind racing machine with appointments fit for the Queen herself. The Luxury Pre-Runner doesn’t hide its racing intentions however, as the trophy truck suspension featuring race-grade Fox Shocks are on full display. The new suspension gives the truck 26-inches of front wheel travel and a massive 32-inches of travel at the rear.

Connecting the trick suspension to the ground is a set of 17-inch billet KMC wheels wrapped in 40-inch BFG KR3 tires. As all of the beefed-up hardware only makes up part of a modern racing truck, the Luxury Pre-Runner is kitted out with all of the latest navigational tools and electronic systems. To deliver racecar levels of power, Spitfire Racing ditched the EcoBoost V6 for a 415-cubic-inch 650HP Chevy Pre-Runner V8 built by Danzio Performance. Power is routed through a 4-Speed Turbo 400 built by Gearworks.
What really separates the Luxury Pre-Runner by Jimco Racing apart from any other off-roader is its stunning interior. Custom HS1 seats might seem wrong in an interior finished with a beautiful hand stitched leather, but the level of detail is tremendous. Everything inside this truck looks like it belongs in one Britain’s prominent luxury sedans, be that a Bentley or a Roller. This wasn’t lost on the builders, who quote the trucks weight as “just right”, in a nod to the always “sufficient” brands.

Whatever a Ford Raptor turned into a Luxury Pre-Runner costs, it is absolutely worth it. Race truck or not, this thing is as classy as it gets.
