Anderson Dick, CEO of FuelTech has been in the bubble of breaking C8 records for more than a year now. Recently he broke into a whole different bubble of his own, the 8-second quart-mile bubble for a C8 Corvette. He was on the bubble for quite a while with his last pass before his 8.97 E.T. being a 9.01 E.T. While records can always be broken, being the first to do something never goes away. And it’s probably the quickest car in the world with a locked ECU, period.

The FuelTech C8 Corvette ECU was never modified because of GM’s decision to encrypt it, along with all other vehicles running the new Global B electrical architecture, such as the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado and Tahoe. So what FuelTech had to do was run their upgraded computer setups with the standard computers through two FT600 engine management systems.
To make sure everything stays in sync, there are plenty of extra sensors placed around the C8, allowing the upgraded parts to communicate with its electrical architecture efficiently, and to keep the Corvette from turning itself into a paperweight.
Going From The 9s To The 8s
Was the FuelTech C8 Corvette just feeling particularly spunky that day? It probably had to do a little with that, but there was some tune finagling involved as well. From what we understand it took a few improvements in the gearbox and a taller tire to find the right combination that broke this Corvette into the 8s.
So you might be wondering when you can get your hands on a FuelTech C8 Corvette turbo kit like this. Well, not anytime soon from what we know, as the company has no plans in the immediate future to sell this package to customers, but you can always follow FuelTech’s social media pages if you want to be the first one on the block with the kit.
