In the world of drag racing, a 10-second 1/4 mile pass is the gold standard of speed. That said, there are plenty of builders and owners alike out there who simply need to push beyond that long-standing figure. YouTuber and actress Emilia Hartford is one of these speed freaks, and her weapon of choice is a C8 Corvette named Phoenix. While this may seem like an odd choice considering the mid-engined sports car’s encrypted ECU, Hartford was not to be swayed. In fact, she has just managed to break the C8 Corvette’s 1/4 mile record. More specifically, she broke the record three times over. Here is what you need to know about the world’s fastest C8 Corvette, and its incredible day at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California.

C8 Corvette fans are likely familiar with Hartford at this point, as her car currently holds the record as the most powerful C8 in the world*. Thanks to an upgraded short block, forged pistons, motorsport clutches, twin Precision 62/66 turbos, meth injection, and nitrous, the car laid down 1,022 horsepower and 942 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. In order to accomplish this despite GM’s best efforts to prevent tuning, Hartford’s Corvette runs two accessory ECUs. A Peitz Performance control unit handles the turbos, while a Holley Dominator EFI kit and standalone ECU take care of the auxiliary fueling system. These two computers work in tandem to convince the C8 Corvette’s stock ECU that everything is just fine, which requires intensive and constant tuning. Not a simple solution by any means – one likely not viable or scalable for large performance companies – but clearly her team is more than capable of getting the results they want from the car.

During their record-setting day Famoso Raceway, Emilia Hartford and her team fit the C8 Corvette with some trick Speedline beadlock wheels, in the classic skinnies-and-slicks drag racing configuration. The car naturally wore a set of super-sticky Mickey Thompson ET Series slicks out back. 91 octane fuel was supplemented by some C16 for the run, which comes in at about 117 octane. The day’s goal was to take the 1/4 crown away from Extreme Turbo Systems, who previously ran a 9.95 second pass. After a few trail runs and some tuning adjustments, Hartford did just that by running a 9.908 at 138.70 mph. Not satisfied with a single world record, she kept pushing.

After cranking boost up to 11 psi, the modified C8 Corvette was able to lay down a 9.474-second pass. Still determined to meet her original goal of smashing into the 8’s however, Hartford would go on to run another record breaking pass of 9.41 seconds. Not quite under 9-seconds, but incredible stuff when you remember the fact this car is “not tunable”.

So then this is the world’s fastest C8 Corvette for the time being. Based on these results from Emilia Hartford, we won’t be surprised to see her get after it once again. Whether or not the car is able to keep shaving time off, this is a genuinely impressive accomplishment nonetheless. Be sure to give the video of the day’s event a watch, as its features an incredible V8 soundtrack. Congrats to Emilia and her team, we’ll be watching for your next record-breaking attempt.

This C8 Corvette owned by Emilia Hartford now holds a drag racing world record and has become the world's fastest C8 Corvette.
