Jeep has been loving the teaser campaign lately, hyping up their fans for the September 3 reveal of the Wrangler 4xe and Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer concept. And they’re not stopping just yet, despite the reveal being two days away. Across the Jeep social media channels, they’ve once again shown bits of the new Wrangler 4xe, this time with the “Plug and Play” tagline.

And that really does seem like a great tagline for this SUV. All of the teasers so far have the hybrid Wrangler outside, off-roading, and enjoying the elements in silence. We don’t see Jeep limiting the Wrangler’s off-road capability because of some batteries, so it’ll be interesting to learn if the hybridization has no drawbacks when off-roading, or if it actually brings some benefits to the table, other than being able to sneak up on sleeping wild horses.

But alas, we will have to wait until September 3 to find out the full details on the model, which was previewed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last January. We don’t have many details on the Wrangler 4xe from Jeep, other than the fact it’ll be a plug in hybrid. Based on the latest teaser, it looks like the 4xe will be offered in Rubicon trim, although it’s unclear if the hybrid powertrain will be carried through other models in the extensive Wrangler lineup. There will also be blue graphics and accents throughout the car to remind yourself and others you’ve got the hybrid Wrangler.

Still, rumors on the model have given us some clues Jeep hasn’t. It will likely get around 30 miles of EV range, which is in line with most plug in hybrids, including the 4xe versions of the Compass and Renegade on sale in Europe. The gas engine Jeep will use is more up for debate, but signs point to the 2.0 liter turbo four cylinder.

Expect the Jeep Wrangler 4xe to boast about the Bronco not offering a hybrid, and be the most efficient Wrangler in the lineup while maintaining the excellent off-road capability Jeep is known for.
