After years of anticipation, Rivian is finally ready to share their electric pickup and SUV with the world. The configurator is opening up to preorder holders today, with the general public build and price system coming November 23. With the launch of the configurator, and the announcement that deliveries for the R1T pickup will start June 2021, Rivian has revealed the three initial equipment packages.

As with most hyped vehicles, the Rivian R1T will be introduced with a Launch Edition at the top of the model range. It’ll also be the only model introduced June 2021, with the others coming later. Sitting alongside it will be the Adventure model, which has all of the options of the Launch Edition, but without some of the exclusive color and trim combinations. Below both of them is Explore, which loses out on a some of the upper trim features for the sake of a lower price tag. Still, each of the three initial models will get the same powertrain and 300+ mile range. Here’s an in depth look at each.

The R1T Explore will start at $67,500 when deliveries commence in January, 2022. It gets a sport-themed interior with vegan leather in either a black or white color, performance stitching and matte black accents. The interior also gets standard lumbar adjusting and heated seats, recycled textile floor mats, a textile headliner, surround sound system and panoramic glass roof. The truck bed gets a manual tonneau cover.

Step up to the Adventure model, and the price grows to $75,000 with deliveries slated for January 2022. It has all the standard features of the Explore model, but gains many enticing options. Most exciting is the Off-Road Upgrade package, giving reinforced underbody shield, dual front bumper tow hooks and an air compressor, which will be very helpful for airing up tires after an off-road adventure. Outside, the truck gains a power tonneau cover, but it’s in the cabin where most of the other upgrades are found.

The interior gets heated and ventilated perforated vegan leather seats, lashings of natural grain wood, a recycled microfiber headliner, upgraded Elevation sound system and Compass Yellow accents. Also interesting are the floor mats, made by the New York outdoor rug and placemat company Chilewich.

The Rivian R1T Launch Edition doesn’t actually provide that many upgrades over Adventure model, and even starts at the same $75,000. The Launch Edition is instead differentiated by its exclusive  Launch Green exterior color, badging, and early launch date. This model also gets the choice between upgraded 20 inch All-Terrain or 22 inch Sport wheels included. These tires wheel choices probably mirror the Pirelli Scorpion tire offerings tailor made for the R1T and R1S. Rivian, unsurprisingly, encourages preorder holders interested in the Launch Edition to order quickly, as they are only making a limited amount.

Rivian have also announced a longer range R1T will become available in January 2022. Rivian will also release more details on a cheaper, 250 mile R1T and R1S when the R1S goes on sale next summer.
