If you ask Ford Motor Company, the new 2024 S650 Mustang features the most driver-focused cockpit ever found in the pony car to-date, wrapping the driver in a fighter jet-inspired position featuring two flowing and curved displays that are fully customizable. And as we pointed out before, the font even appears to be right out of a billion-dollar warbird.
At the center of the new Ford Mustang is a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster powered by Unreal Engine 3D. The software is commonly used in modern video games and allows the display to be quickly customized to show different animated designs and new drive-mode-dependent visuals. There’s even a Fox Body Mustang-themed gauge cluster that brings it right back to the 1980s, complete with a special night mode.
“We’re taking advantage of every pixel,” said Craig Sandvig, Ford Mustang interaction design manager. “We can be creative in showing necessary driving information and give the driver control of selecting colors, classic Mustang gauges or even a ‘calm’ screen where only minimal details are displayed.”
While looking at the screens, the driver is enveloped in standard cloth seating with optional Micro-Suede vinyl inserts and black seat belts. Buyers can choose to upgrade to the Premium model, which benefits from upgraded wrapped and stitched accents.
Instead of the aviation-themed switchgear that accompanied the push-button start in the S550 Mustang, the S650 model replaces them with haptic-touch instrumentation. We’re gonna miss those toggles.

For EcoBoost models, Ford’s ‘ActiveX’ synthetic leather upholstery with multiple color options is standard, while GT models feature leather seat inserts.
A sporty flat-bottomed full-leather steering wheel is available on higher series models, featuring a choice of color accent stitching complemented by matching asymmetric striping on the seat belts, while the seat inserts feature unique perforation.
If you’re interested in listening to something other than the roar of a dual-throttle-bodied 5.0L Coyote V8, the Mustang is available with a 12-speaker B&O Sound System optimized for the car’s interior, with Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatible with SYNC 4. The infotainment has built-in Amazon Alexa with Ford Streaming that can be activated with voice commands.
In addition, the center console also has an available wireless mobile phone charging pad, while USB ports are installed overhead for dash cams and other devices.
