FORD MUSTANG SEDAN TEASED IN S650 DESIGN SKETCHES

How Far Will Ford Push The Mustang Name?

After nearly hour-long live streamed debut event on September 14th, which MC&T was able to attend in-person, the S650 Ford Mustang has finally debuted. For the seventh-generation pony car, Ford honed and improved just about everything we saw with the sixth-generation, with a new design, upgraded engines, cutting-edge technology, and a few surprise variants like the first-ever Dark Horse. And as Ford has eluded to growing the Mustang brand, we may have been given a teaser as to what we could expect a few years into the future. And that’s in the shape of a Ford Mustang sedan.

Among the dozens of images that Ford officially released for the 2024 Mustang, there’s a peculiar sketch by Christoper Stevens, the chief exterior designer of the S650 It can be found in a photo portraying ideations of the new muscle car, depicted below.

Notice the Ford Mustang sedan in the bottom left corner? It really makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Considering that there’s already a Ford Mustang SUV in the form of the Mach-E, a four-door sedan really doesn’t come as a surprise. And it echoes the remarks made by Ford executives that nothing is off the table for the Mustang. That includes four-doors, and that includes more electrification. And if that means preserving the visceral nature for the S650 Mustang and ensuring a high-octane future to come, it’s hard to argue against it. And it puts understand as to why Ford is looking to expand nameplates such as the Mustang, Bronco, and even the Maverick, as what they’re calling “horizontal brands.”

A few years ago, we’d never thought that there’d be a possibility of an electric Corvette sedan competing for the same customer as an electric Ford Mustang sedan, but here we are.
