It’s Expected To Debut And Launch In Australia First

The Plug-in Hybrid Ford Ranger is on the way. According to Australia’s Drive, the 2024 Ford Ranger PHEV will be arriving in Australia within the next 12 months, and it will be paired with a turbocharged gas engine, and it likely won’t be long after until it reaches other markets, such as the United States, Canada and Europe, as well.

2024 Ford Ranger PHEV: What To Expect

It’s believed that the first electrified Ford Ranger will be powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine combined with one or more electric motors. Without the assistance of the hybrid powertrain, the engine makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. So, with the addition of the electric motor, it should have over 300 horsepower and a lot more torque. However, we’ll have to wait until its unveiling to know the power output, maximum battery capacity, and electric-only range.

Ford will offer the PHEV Ford Ranger in the US, likely for the 2025 model year. Since the 2024 Ford Ranger and Ford Bronco ride on the same platform, a PHEV version of the Bronco should be arriving around the same time. That should give Jeep something to fret about.

As for pricing, PHEV pricing for passengers and SUVs typically runs around $10,000 to $20,000 more than the equivalent ICE models; a quick look at vehicle pricing can give a basic idea of what to expect. The starting price for the 2024 Ford Ranger, including the destination fee in the US, is $34,160. The Lariat trim, the most luxurious version of the Ranger, will cost $45,120, which currently slots just below the Raptor, which has an MSRP of $56,960. The PHEV version of the Ranger will likely share many of the Lariat’s features and could slot in under the Raptor for around $55,000. That number is just speculation, and the only sure way to know is by waiting for Ford to announce pricing for the PHEV Ranger when it arrives.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
