Victor Racing has announced that they will be releasing their new ACT-C8 Active Aero Wing for the C8 Corvette. The new ACT-C8 Smart Active Wing is a 70″ carbon fiber airfoil controlled by dual fast-acting actuators for variable downforce. Simply connect it to 12v power, and the onboard sensors and software will automatically position the wing. The active aero wing features five different positions: DRS, Downforce 1, Downforce 2, Downforce 3, and aerobraking from one of the three user-programmable presets.
MC&T was first to report that the C8 Corvette would eventually get active aerodynamics. And while this isn’t the factory solution we were mentioning, the Victor Racing ACT-C8 Active Aero Wing seems like anything but an ornament.
Victor Racing ACT-C8 Corvette Active Aero Wing Details
The ACT-C8 Active Aero Wing for the C8 Corvette has a built-in CPU with a GPS, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope sensors. All of which work in tandem with software algorithms for automatic airfoil control. Users can define speeds for the airfoil positions within each of the three presets. In addition, intelligent features allow users to set the amount of G-Force needed before aerobraking is initiated for the more race-focused Corvette drivers. For example, allowing to decrease speed when needed for better control over the car while only having the wing go into the braking position when the brake is pressed down hard enough.
Aesthetically, this aftermarket C8 Corvette active aero wing looks like it mimics the looks of what we see on the Corvette C8.R race car, with its long necks sticking the spoiler well away from the rest of the body.
The ACT-C8 Smart Active Wing from Victor Racing is planned to be available for all models of the C8 Corvette, including the new Z06, and well into the future. Expect pricing to be announced soon.
