It’s a well-known fact that muscle car fans are also fans of trucks and visa-versa; both feature extraordinary V8 power, both look spectacular, and both feed on the essence of our predecessors… Dinosaurs. However, fans of the two with set budgets generally have to make a compromise: buy an epic V8 muscle car or buy a terrain-conquering truck. Now, it seems Westen Champlin has watched one too many Taco shell commercials and decided, “Why not both?” Enter the 4×4 Off-Road Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
Westen Camplin And The 4×4 Off-Road Dodge Challenger Hellcat
This isn’t just a build where you throw spacers on the suspension, larger tires and say, “Perfect.” No, Westen is looking to build an actual 4×4 Dodge Challenger, which requires building a sturdier infrastructure and welding it to the frame to ensure that the car can handle all the goodies of an F-150‘s suspension without damaging the car while off-roading. Unfortunately, the 12-minute video is just the start of the build, which means we’ll have to wait to see what the finished product of this epic build looks like. However, at the end of the video, the car is lowered towards axles, which have been fully prepared to be mounted to the car off-camera, and it looks fantastic.
Of course, we can’t forget about the sheer power that is also part of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which, after this build is complete, will send 717 horsepower to all four wheels. This is enough power even to put the Ram 1500 TRX to shame; it’ll be significantly lighter, which means it’ll still be exquisite off the line. Not just that, but this truck should be able to bounce over dunes, crawl over rocks, and do other epic off-road things, all the while sporting massive 35-inch tires that add a full ten inches to the overall width of the green Dodge Challenger.
If you have the time, check out the video below to watch a 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat go from hugging the ground to receiving an entirely new suspension system that requires it to receive a 20-inch lift to fit the massive tires and prepare to take on the truck gang.
